ARENA HANDEBOL

Brafer was awarded to perform the detailing, manufacture, painting and assembly of the Handball Arena roof and stands, in Rio de Janeiro.

Involving both the Araucaria and Rio de Janeiro plants, the project had a volume of approximately 2,700 tons, divided into 1,400 tons for the roof, 1,100 tons for the stands and another 200 tons for the stadium stairs and access ramps.

The implementation schedule was of a fast-track type, where the manufacturing and assembly processes overlapped, optimizing the deadline compliance to the fullest.

A special feature of this assembly was sequence used; the roof was assembled first and then the stands as they were supported by the roof.

For the assembly of the 90-meter long and 75-ton scissor trusses, Brafer counted on two cranes, one of 220 tons and the other of 160 tons.

The Handball Arena is one of Brafer’s showcases for the 2016 Olympics.
