VSB: VALLOUREC & SUMITOMO DO BRASIL
Brafer was awarded by Vallourec & Mannesmann and Sumitomo Metals to supply and assembly steel structures for the Jeceaba Plant. Contributing to the venture with 10,000 tons of steel structures for the Lamination, Steel making and Melt Shop buildings.
VSB is a Brazilian steel company owned by a joint venture made up of the French group Vallourec and the Japanese group Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of crude steel.
The Lamination complex of the plant required special detailing due to the tubular structures with welded or bolted connections. The process made by a robot with a special automatic factory cut.
The assembly consisted of seven terraced industrial sheds erected almost simultaneously. The biggest challenge was during the main Galvanizing industrial shed erection, where the cranes to lift the end trusses were positioned on the side of the building at a level lower to the floor level and while the roof was erected there was another parallel team doing the industrial floor in this area.
