ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY

Environment Brafer’s environmental awareness starts with its main raw material: steel. Besides being durable, it is also recyclable, replacing the use of wood in civil construction.

Brafer seeks to contribute to the conservation of the environment through processes that further increase the durability of steel, reduce scrap and follow waste management programs, along with monitoring the emission of greenhouse gases and effluent treatments.

Attesting our commitment to reduce the impact of our activities, the company is certified by the ISO 14001 Standard. The standard guarantees the effective management of environmental issues in a system that prioritises the management of environmental impacts, satisfies the given the legal requirements and increases the awareness of all the company’s employees.

In addition to all the daily actions taken, in 2009, an area of environmental protection, which covers 20 hectares of native forest, was included in the company’s assets. Registered with the Environmental Institute of Paraná (IAP), the forest is located on the outskirts of the metropolitan region of Curitiba. A wealth of flora and fauna was identified in its grounds. Among the list of species of trees, there are specimens of Imbuia, Cinnamon, Sassafras, Rosewood, Caviúna and Monjoleiro, and over seven hundred Araucaria pines.
